Pallavi Shefali Sherring hails from a small town called Pauri Garhwal in Uttarakhand. She has been travelling and working in rural villages across India for the past 10 years. She has travelled to more than 3000 villages and has an extensive field experience in implementing initiatives for Rural Women Entrepreneurship.
She founded Epicenter to co-create solutions directly with the women in villages. Solutions that enable women in villages to start generating income on their own by doing what they are best at, by doing something they love to do. To do this- she had to step up and start on her own, so even when the chips were down during COVID- she quit her high paying corporate job to follow something that she considers far more satisfying and impactful. She started identifying Rural women leaders and artists across India by Partnering directly with Self Help groups and Artist Communities. She has traveled to over 3000 villages in India and worked in multiple capacities for rural women entrepreneurship and rural development. She left her corporate job to follow her passion to work with and for the rural women of India. She does believe that the real CEOs of the company are these women- our DD’s working day in and day out in the villages, exuding strength, discipline and a go-getter attitude right at the grassroots. She now lives and breathes Epicenter. Epicenter completes her dream of working in every village, building relationships with people in villages and enabling women to start generating sustainable income.
“I do believe that the women in rural areas are way more organised and talented than the rest of women who may be more privileged in the way of the world. If I can partner with her, I have partnered with a Rural CEO of my company. I am here to work for them and with them. We will partner with rural women, artists, the forgotten people, we will train them, we will learn from them, and we will send beautiful handcrafted products to the world and share the dreams of our talented women who literally nurture the products with their creative and loving hands.
The logo- means Mother Earth. All our handcrafted products are inspired by the colors and designs of nature, wonderfully made with hands by the women in the heart of India- villages.
Thus Mother Earth sums up our inspiration and concept perfectly”
That rural women! That lady is my CEO!
